Hatha

Offering First Class Free

In this evening Hatha yoga class we explore the mind/body/spirit complex by investigating how Tantric wisdom/practices, therapeutic biomechanical body principles, and flowing asana sequences affect our moment to moment experience. Class ends with guided deep relaxation. Appropriate for beginners. Welcoming, Enlivening, Cleansing.

What to bring: I recently purchased some mats and blankets that are available for use. Even still, it can be nice to have your own mat. Blankets and towels can be nice for sitting, padding the knees, and adding warmth in savasana. If you own and enjoy using blocks you are encouraged to bring those as well. No specific clothing is required to practice hatha yoga, but most people prefer to wear clothes that don't restrict movement. The heat in the room is set to a lovely 72 degrees.

To find the space: The Arcata Presbyterian Church is a large unique yellow building on the north east corner of 11th and G streets. Enter through the Todd Room Door. This is the second door furthest uphill on the West side of the church (G street). Upon entering immediately on the left is another door leading to a flight of stairs. Go up the stairs and the gym will be on your left.

Class History: I began teaching weekly Monday night classes in this style for Inner Freedom Yoga in September 2017. The class happened almost every week until March 2020. Classes resumed 2 years later in March 2022.
